Vanessa Avalone Wins Fulbright

Senior Vanessa Avalone, a Biology major and French minor from Stonington, CT, has won a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship for the 2017-18 academic year.

Avalone is one of five University of Vermont applicants awarded Fulbright Scholarships this year. The prestigious awards are yearlong fellowships which enable seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students to live abroad and represent the United States as a part of the world's largest intellectual and cultural exchange fellowship. Avalone has been funded to teach in Malaysia.

In the last five years, more than 100 UVM students and alumni have won or been finalists in prestigious scholarship and fellowship competitions ranging from the Fulbright to the Rhodes.
